EBUS (Endobronchial Ultrasound) – Advanced Lung Diagnosis

Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) is a modern and minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose lung diseases, infections, and lung cancer. It allows doctors to view the airways, lungs, and surrounding lymph nodes using a bronchoscope equipped with ultrasound technology.

At our clinic, we provide advanced EBUS diagnostics with experienced pulmonology specialists and modern medical equipment to ensure accurate diagnosis and safe procedures for patients.

What is EBUS?

EBUS is a specialized bronchoscopy procedure that combines ultrasound imaging with endoscopy. A thin flexible tube with a camera and ultrasound probe is inserted through the mouth into the airways.

This allows the doctor to:

  • Examine lungs and bronchial tubes
  • Identify abnormal lymph nodes
  • Detect lung tumors or infections
  • Take needle biopsy samples without surgery

When is EBUS Recommended?

Your doctor may recommend EBUS if you have:

  • Suspicious lung nodules or masses
  • Enlarged lymph nodes in the chest
  • Suspected lung cancer
  • Tuberculosis or lung infections
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Abnormal findings on CT scan or chest X-ray

EBUS helps doctors provide precise diagnosis without the need for major surgery.

Benefits of EBUS

  • Minimally invasive procedure
  • No external surgical cuts
  • Highly accurate diagnosis
  • Faster recovery time
  • Safe and reliable technique
  • Helps in early detection of lung cancer

How the Procedure is Done

  1. The patient is given local anesthesia or mild sedation.
  2. A thin bronchoscope with ultrasound is inserted through the mouth into the airways.
  3. Ultrasound helps locate lymph nodes or abnormal tissues.
  4. A fine needle biopsy is taken for laboratory testing.
  5. The procedure usually takes around 30–60 minutes.

Most patients can return home on the same day after the procedure.
